Bio
Duo Lindalouise and Dougie met in a dimly lit bar where Dougie
was singing in a tiny Scottish town many years ago.
They fell in love, married and moved halfway across the world.
One day with shaky hands, Lindalouise took a journal of songs
that she’d been secretly writing to Dougie, a writer she deeply
admired. It was just over three years ago they decided to embrace a new
journey.
What We Embrace tell stories, some triumphant, some less so.
Their sound is teetering between Indie Folk, Alt Country and New Americana, their
voices blending, lifting and weaving to unexpected places.
Each song is a journey through heartbreak, love, uncertainty and
redemption. They make music for the dreamers, the broken and the yet-to-be
-found.
Songwriter Lindalouise Greig (she/her) relocated to Canada with highlights including The Robert Burns Award for Performance in 2007 and The UWS x Centre for Contemporary Art Scotland’s, Willie Strachan Creativity Award, 2009 for her original Dance Theatre piece “Duplicity”.
Lindalouise was compelled to write songs for the first time looking out at the view of the Fraser River and Mount Baker, finding catharsis through sharing stories she’s been collecting.
Songwriter and Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA) nominee Dougie Greig (he/him) blends heartfelt lyrics with soaring melodies. An old heart Dougie cut his teeth playing in bands in Europe.
Dougie has returned to his songwriting roots finding fresh inspiration in Canada, with What We Embrace and his solo career.
Dougie is honoured to be an endorsee with Godin Guitars in Canada.
They’ve been honoured to play shows including, The Edinburgh Fringe, Summerset Festival, City of Coquitlam Cultural Summit, Steveston Salmon Festival, Fridays on Front, Shipyards, Porchfest, and BC Country’s Songwriters Showcase, Nashville Nights.
Nominated for The Fraser Valley Music Awards for Folk/Roots Artist of the Year 2022.
They showcased at Folk Alliance, 2021.
Having quickly built their reputation as compelling storytellers live, They released their debut single “Hollow” in fall 2023, and they are excited to release their first EP in Fall 2024.
